Personal Development: H.A.L.T and Take Back Control Of Your Life!

Thought I’d share this H.A.L.T framework with you. Conventional wisdom suggests that we should avoid making important decisions whenever we are HUNGRY, ANGRY, LONELY or TIRED.
I have expanded on that a bit by adding some questions that you can ask yourself to bring clarity, based on each emotion. The questions allow you a pause, to explore what is at the root of your negative emotions.
Pausing interrupts our typically automated Thought (belief) >Emotion (feelings) >Action (behaviour) sequence.
H.A.L.T helps you become more self-aware when you are in stressful and pressuring situations. Your self-awareness puts you back in the driver’s seat, enabling you to…literally…think-about-what-s-going-on. If you can think clearly, then you can choose wisely.
Choosing wisely restores your control over the situation.
Hope this H.A.L.T framework will help you cope with this season of Christmas/New Year. These are typically periods of joy, as well as high stress for many.
But now, whenever you feel the stress coming on, you can H.A.L.T and take back control of your life.
