How To Value Your Time
I hope you are doing well, I know we haven’t connected by newsletter in a couple weeks. In fact, a client who is also a part of our YMJA Community observed that she thought I had unsubscribed her from our newsletter mailing list. If you began to think like that too, perish-the-thought. I have been thinking of you. Truth is, the Month of April has been challenging, with three car accidents, personal sickness, family sickness, and I just learned today that someone I met last week Saturday, died violently last night. April has been no joke, but I am coaching myself through it to clarity, sanity and serenity, and I am grateful to God for life and the grace to work through the challenges with a keen sense of hope.
This leads me to the subject of this post, I’d like to share with you today. I often advise my clients, as well as the young college students and graduates I also serve, “Live life with…urgency…not anxiety.” I am confident that you know all the clichés about the importance of time, and why we should value it and how short life is, etc. Yet you may still struggle with Read the Rest…

Aren’t You Tired of the Excuses-Excuses-Excuses?
Stop Making Excuses
and You Will Stop Living
a Less Than What You Want Life
The next time you listen to or make an excuse, pause and reflect. For people do…[invest time-money-thought-emotion]…
what is important to them. So what gets done in a day is what is important to us. However much of what we consider important…is not. Otherwise we would live with more joy and less regret. Therefore, life is asking us to become more skilful at determining what is truly important for our lives, sooner. Life is also asking us to have the courage to take action on what we…[now] know is important. BEGIN TODAY.
“What is one pending item in my life, about which I have been making excuses; however, I know that if it was resolved today I would have a better quality of life and a greater sense of well being?”
“What is one action I can take over the next seven (7) days to address the matter?”
Example: I can revise my resume in order to begin searching for a new job.
Example: To improve my financial health, I will begin by revising my resume by Wednesday, March 15th, 2017 in order to facilitate my job search to attract an appropriate salary increase.
HOW TO STAY MOTIVATED?
To hold yourself accountable to taking action and completing your sub-goal (e.g. Revise resume) over the next seven days, towards achieving your main goal (e.g. Find a new job with adequate salary), identify a safe (non-judgmental, responsible, encouraging) person. Ask the person if they would be your success-partner by holding you accountable for completing your goal by the date you set and cheering you on as you take action each week.
I believe in you. I believe that if you make the choice today, life can be different and better for you. What about you, though? Do you believe your life can be different and better than ever?Do hope you will identify at least one (1) action you can take and complete over the next seven (7) days to move forward on the pending matters that keep you from that fulfilled life you know you can have, and definitely deserve. BEGIN TODAY.

One Main Way to Love Yourself More
Stop taking things personally! If you more often than not take things personally you are indulging in what psychologists call “Personalization.” Personalization is a cognitive distortion. So what is a cognitive distortion, you may wonder? A firm belief that something is true, when it is not. The problem is that the erroneous belief negatively impacts how we see ourselves, others, and the world in which we live. This in turn influences our poor decision making in the significant areas of our lives. Read the Rest…

The 10 Commandments of People Who Self-Sabotage – What They Say & Why
- “Nothing I do will make a difference!”
Belief: I am a victim. - “What will they say?”
Belief: What family, friends, and people I want to like and accept me think, is more important than what I think or value, especially in relation to my own life. - “I need him [her] in my life.”
Belief: I cannot be [do it] alone. - “I am going to make her do what she should do for me!”
Belief: I have enough power and influence to force people to change their behaviour. - “I would have that by now if only…”
Belief: A good excuse will cover up my lack of action and progress in the significant areas of my life. - “All my life people keep saying this or that about me, but they just don’t understand.”
Belief: I am not responsible for the negative patterns that show up in my life, it’s my circumstances. - “I’m not as smart or as attractive or as educated or as wealthy or as connected as…”
Belief: When I focus on the assets of others I don’t need to admit that I do not like myself or value myself highly or believe in myself enough. - “I could have that, if I really wanted it.”
Belief: It’s not that I truly can’t do something or I find it difficult, my lack of performance is due to motivation - “I need more time to think about it”
Belief: I cannot admit that I am afraid. - “I don’t need help, everybody has setbacks in life.”
Belief: If I ask for help it means that something is seriously wrong with me.

How to Make This YOUR Year
- Personally accept that YOU can have the best year of your life to date, this very year. Without this core belief, you show up in your life as a victim, someone to whom things happen, not someone who makes [good] things happen for your own self.
- Become clear about what you want in the significant areas of your life e.g. Self, Family, Love Relationship, Friendships, Career, Finances, Health, Spiritual, Fun & Enjoyment. Decide WHAT is important in the area and WHY it is important to you. Write down how life would be better if that goal was accomplished and your current reality.
- Select the most important area of your life to start acting on. That would be the area which if corrected today would have the greatest positive impact on you overall.
- Identify your constraints. Be honest with yourself about what holds you back from doing the things you need to do for your life, or doing them on time. Eliminating your constraints or managing them will greatly boost every effort you make in investing in the quality life you desire and deserve, this year.
- Remind yourself daily/weekly of what this year means to you, and why. Many times we do not have what we need or want, because we lose sight of what we truly want.

What a Trip To The ER Taught Me About Clarity
So, here’s my story. While I lived in the USA in the 90s for college and then work, I came to know a woman, who I’ll call Sharon. We met at Church. We attended the same Adult Sunday School class and would chit chat by phone occasionally. Sharon was gregarious, welcoming, just the sweetest kind of temperament. She was the type of person you’d feel guilty not liking. One day I got a call from Sharon. Her tone was very unlike what I was accustomed to. She was extremely distressed. Alarmed. Scared. She was suffering from a serious anxiety attack and felt like she just couldn’t go on. Unknown to me, she had been on medication for anxiety for a long time. We agreed that I would accompany her to the hospital. I got in my car and headed to her apartment and we went on to the nearest hospital and sat in the Emergency Room waiting. Of course, before we sat down we did the patient intake procedure at the nurse’s station. And we waited. And we waited. And we waited. Read the Rest…

List of Jamaican Olympic Team – Encourage With A Tweet! Rio 2016
Hi Friends,
Our Jamaican Olympic Team Members have been doing so well at the Rio Olympics, 2016. Some have not performed in the way they intended to, but THEY ARE ALL WINNERS, and clearly EXCELLENT in their respective sporting event. So why not give them all some encouragement by tweeting to them by name, and letting them know how much you admire them, and are grateful for how well they have lifted up our country Jamaica positively in the eyes of the world, yet again?
